Let's unlock red deer's potential
About Me
I’m proud to call Red Deer home again. After spending over two decades living and working in cities across North America, I returned three years ago to the community where I grew up—graduating from Lindsay Thurber High School and beginning my studies at Red Deer College, where I also played soccer with the Queens.Professionally, I bring over 15 years of experience in the food and health industry, with a passion for turning big ideas into practical, people-centered solutions. I currently serve as a Senior Director at PepsiCo, leading innovation in digital health and wellness by combining my backgrounds in science and business to drive meaningful, long-term growth. As a senior executive at the largest food and beverage company in North America and the second largest in the world, I’ve developed essential skills from leading diverse teams to cutting through red tape to drive results.Throughout my career, I’ve worked in research and development and strategy roles across Canada and the U.S., holding a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Business and Science (MBS) from Rutgers University.Since returning to Red Deer, community involvement has been a priority. I serve on local non-profit and academic boards, such as Red Deer Polytechnic Board of Governors, co-founded Spark It Up Productions - an event planning business designed to bring people together to socialize and support local businesses - and I still play soccer with the women’s city league. I started a RDP scholarship to support the next generation of leaders who can translate science and technology into practical solutions for our community. I also continue to lend my expertise to organizations across North America. My local and global experiences give me a broad perspective, unique skillset, and strong network that I will put to work for Red Deer.

Why I’m Running
Red Deer has always been home. It’s where I grew up, built lifelong relationships, and learned the values that continue to shape who I am today. After living in Edmonton, Toronto and New York for over 20 years, I returned with fresh eyes and a fire in my belly. I believe Red Deer has great potential and it's within reach – with bold, thoughtful and action-oriented leadership Red Deer can thrive. Now more than ever, we need innovative thinking to tackle the complex challenges facing our city. I excel at finding practical solutions for complex and often ambiguous problems. As a scientist, I believe in evidence-based decision making - evaluating the data and acting with both courage and common sense. My business experience keeps me grounded to ensure solutions are feasible and make economic sense.I know Red Deer isn’t Toronto or New York or even Edmonton or Calgary — and it doesn’t need to be. But as Alberta’s third largest city, it’s time we leaned into our strengths and put Red Deer on the map for the right reasons. From the incredible people and businesses to our institutions and recreational / outdoor spaces, the potential is here—we just need to unlock it.Over the past three years, I’ve reconnected with our city through volunteer work, community boards, various events, and everyday conversations and activities. I’ve heard the concerns and ideas from across Red Deer, and I also see and experience them - and I’m ready to turn these into action. I’m running because I believe in this city, and I know we can unlock its potential - together.

Priorities
An Evidence-Based and Innovative ApproachWhile issues may change over time, my approach will remain consistent: I believe in making decisions based on evidence, listening to diverse perspectives and bringing in the right expertise to find innovative, yet practical solutions that will work for Red Deer.Complex problems rarely have simple solutions. My experience and network help me ask the right questions and think and seek solutions beyond the norm. I bring a test-and-learn mindset - trying new ideas on a small scale, learning from them, and adapting as we go. This approach allows us to take innovative but fiscally responsible action: testing solutions cost-effectively and scaling what works. I believe Red Deer’s greatest potential lies in our ability to think boldly and act practically.
Here’s how I’ll apply this approach in key areas:Enhancing Public Spaces
I will support our parks, trails, and recreational facilities as vital community assets that promote wellbeing and attract families as well as events and tourism. Keeping these safe is essential.Economic Resilience
I will prioritize boosting economic growth through new revenue streams, collaborations with local businesses and RDP, and strategic and responsible investments, such as tackling issues that are holding businesses back, particularly downtown. I'll support getting the right expertise in place for effective guidance and oversight.Youth Programming & Our Future
Helping our youth thrive ensures our community's long-term prosperity. I will invest in the leaders of tomorrow and support vulnerable kids with the right resources through partnerships like the Boys and Girls Club and the Child Advocacy Centre, to provide the right resources to tackle the root causes of issues.Safety & Crime Rates
Let's get Red Deer on the map for the right reasons, and off the top crime per capita list. I will support using pilots to find effective and fiscally responsible solutions, scaling what works. This includes finding creative ways to unlock funds to tackle critical issues like homelessness.Championing Arts & Culture
I will support Red Deer’s cultural scene as essential for long-term vibrancy - a thriving arts and music community is a hallmark of dynamic, future-ready cities.
